TAKING ACTION FOR THE CAUSE!

THIRD-PARTY FUNDRAISERS

Organize an Event Benefitting the Alzheimer Society of Montreal!

Would you like to organize an event to benefit the Alzheimer Society of Montréal, but don’t know how to go about it?

A third-party event is a fundraising initiative presented by an individual, community group, service club or company outside the Alzheimer Society of Montreal, through an activity planned, managed and financed by the organizer and external participants. You don’t have to be a professional to organize your event. It can be a fundraiser to pay tribute to someone you love, to celebrate a birthday, for a personal or sporting challenge, or many other occasions. All you need to do is come up with an idea that you want to see through from start to finish, and share it with the Alzheimer Society of Montreal. A third-party organizer is a person or group of people who want to get involved and make a difference in the community by organizing a fundraising event or transforming an existing activity into a fundraiser.

All fundraising activities organized for the benefit of the Alzheimer Society of Montreal must be approved in advance. For further information and details, please contact Michel Phaka Khonde or Elisabeth Désy at 514 369-0800, ext. 1205.

Here are some examples of third-party fundraising events:

Annual banquet

An event organized by the Associazione Sant’Anna di Cantalupo in collaboration with the Associazione Santa Maria del Molise. This event was initiated by two families from the Italian community, represented by Messrs. Bart Marsillo and Armando Bertone.” This fundraiser began in 2018, in response to the many family members of our cultural association who have been affected by Alzheimer’s disease.”

A festive evening, combining awareness and networking that brought together nearly 300 Montrealers, and having fostered touching exchanges between various generations.

Over $10,000 raised for the Alzheimer Society of Montreal

Shorcan’s annual charity day

In January 2023, employees of TMX Shorcan, Canada’s leading interdealer fixed-income broker, dedicated a day to philanthropy and community involvement. For the 4th year in a row, the event focused on helping people living with neurocognitive disorders. Proceeds from this event enabled TMX Shorcan Brokers Ltd to donate $25,000 to the Alzheimer Society of Montreal. Thank you for the TMX Shorcan team’s ongoing commitment to the community!

Among the causes they prioritized was that of people living with neurocognitive disorders. Proceeds from the event enabled this group of students to raise $8,400 for the Alzheimer Society of Montreal.

A festive evening, combining awareness-raising and networking, which brought together nearly 150 Montrealers, and fostered touching exchanges between different generations.

Montréal Beneva Marathon

Our first participation as a partner organization in the Marathon Beneva de Montréal was a resounding success. For its fundraising campaign, the Alzheimer Society of Montreal was able to count on the generous participation of 5 teams and 22 individuals, who raised $7,445, nearly 50% more than our $5,000 objective.

The Beneva Montreal Marathon appeals to the competitive spirit of each participant, rewarding the organizations whose fundraising campaigns perform best.

Bonneville Lachine Half-Marathon

Sunday, October 15, 2023 saw the 8th edition of the Lachine Half-Marathon, bringing together over 3,500 runners and dozens of volunteers along the Lachine Locks and Parc René-Lévesque.

Among the 3 causes chosen: the Alzheimer Society of Montreal, Mission 1,000 Tons and the Montreal SPCA. Funds raised were donated to each organization, with over $18,500 going to the Alzheimer Society of Montreal.

Once again this year, the Society’s team, with the help of many of its volunteers, had the pleasure of distributing water and electrolytes, and handing out medals to the runners, giving them a chance to cheer on and chat with the marathoners!

“You’re Not in this Alone” — Fundraising Supper

For years, Maria Di Giovanni has organized a fundraising supper in honour of her husband, Stefano Di Giovanni, who was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in 2007.

This year, the Di Giovanni family has been joined by the Iacono family in their efforts to raise awareness about the reality of Alzheimer’s for people living with the disease and their families. Last year, the Iacono’s matriarch was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, which inspired the family to increase their involvement with “You’re Not in this Alone.”
