Our diverse training programs are tailored to meet the needs and realities of people affected by a neurocognitive disorder. They are designed to enable you to respond to the unique needs of this clientele, thereby offering respectful and fully appropriate support for each individual.

Conferences on Alzheimer's and other neurocognitive disorders

These conferences help you gain a better understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders, while offering the tools to better navigate the care and life journey.

Conferences offered include the following:

  • The disease and communication strategies
  • Visiting a person living with a neurocognitive disorder: what to know
  • Helping a caregiver
  • Ambiguous loss and grief

A complete educational program offered directly in your workplace.

  • Identify early warning signs
  • Learn to intervene and interact better
  • Lead stimulating activities in the residence
  • Understand Alzheimer’s disease better, identify the early warning signs and winning strategies.

*A certificate is issued at the end of the educational program.

This training enables the development of humane and professional intervention skills. You will build competencies that equi you to support and intervene with individuals diagnosed with neurocognitive disorders surch as Alzheimer’s disease, as well as with their families.

*The professional training is recognized by the OIIAQ as continuing education.

EXPRESS TRAINING

This training is an adaptation of the 4 modules offered in the professional training and is accessible to a broader audience. 

After completing your professional training, we offer specializations in the form of workshops.

Workshop 1: Neurocognitive disorder, intimacy and sexuality

Workshop 2: Non-pharmacological, person-centred approaches to stimulate and intervene more effectively.

Educational services offer coaching for you, your team or your organization to achieve your goals and improve resident care. The compassion and expertise of our counsellors will be a valuable asset to facilitate the support of your staff to meet the needs of your clients living with a neurocognitive disorder.

Cancellation by the participant:

  • 10 business days or more before the training/conference: 100% refund

  • 6–10 business days before the training/conference: A penalty of 50% of the cost will be applied

  • 5 business days or fewer / absent: No refund; full fees are required

 

Cancellation by the organization: If the training is cancelled (e.g., insufficient number of participants), fees will be refunded at 100%.

Substitution: Participant substitution may be accepted before the start of the training.

Tamara Ciorra

Brain Health counsellor and trainer

A Concordia University graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Leisure and a specialization in Therapeutic Recreation, she enlivens the residences as much as her personal life. In the winter, Tamara loves to ski, while in the summer, she spends her free time rollerblading.

Tamara has several years of experience as a volunteer and professional in residences and CHSLDs.

She creates meaningful connections wherever she goes! As an Italian, she sincerely believes that food, like the training she provides, has the power to bring people together.

Sarah Errou

Brain Health counsellor and trainer

With a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a diploma in pedagogy, Sarah began her career as a mathematics teacher, before discovering her true passion for psychology.

While completing her psychology studies, she volunteered at a psychosocial research centre in Lebanon. She later added training as a certified hypnotherapist consultant to her spectrum of skills.

On her arrival in Quebec, Sarah worked in a residence for the elderly, where she dedicated herself to geriatrics, with a keen interest in improving seniors’ quality of life.
